About DOC News
DOC News was published monthly by the American Diabetes Association from August 2004 to January 2008. Each issue can be freely accessed on this website. Editor-in-Chief Irl Hirsch's excellent editorial on the genesis, development, and history of DOC News can be found here.
The mission of DOC News was to provide primary care providers and all clinicians involved in the care of people with diabetes with the most important, timely, and easy-to-read information available to combat the public health crises of diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. DOC News spotlighted clinical trials through coverage of scientific meetings in the U.S. and abroad and summaries of the timely publications in diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular journals; addressed questions in the areas of primary care, endocrinology, cardiology, pharmacology, nursing, and nutrition; and informed its readers of key developments from the American Diabetes Association with ramifications for their patients.
